#45: ‘It’s your (basic) footwork’ by You Don’t Know

‘It’s your (basic) footwork’ is a short piece of writing and audio from writing collective You Don’t Know.

I have been going back and forth with this post as it feels a little self-indulgent – it includes some writing by me and my wife Lizzy. In June 2022 we were invited to submit to KINETIC, an anthology of new writing, under the guise of our collective writing/podcast project, You Don’t Know. The theme of ‘movement’ underpinned the content of the anthology, and we naturally decided to write about boxing.

We’d both been training regularly at Islington Boxing Club for a while, for fitness rather than for competition, and our lives at the time seemed to be filled with talk about boxing footwork and movement, so we instinctively took this as our starting point. As with all of our writing with YDK, it is also available as audio in the form of a podcast.
