‘The Bittersweet Science’ is a collection of fifteen essays about American boxing and boxers, edited by Carlo Rotella and Michael Ezra.
Now, this is no judgement on this book, but I almost have no recollection of reading it, though this has much more to do with the fact that I read this book around 18 months ago, at a time that I was reading a little too obsessively than is perhaps healthy. I should have paced myself a little more and, on reflection, maybe started this blog sooner, so I don’t have to sit here racking my brain, trying to remember why a book is on my shelf at home.
I had, thankfully, written a couple of notes which include me reminding myself to read more of Carlo Rotella’s writing, and that I enjoyed Sarah Denning’s portrait of Claressa Shields.
I might re-read this book but I also have a growing pile to read so probably won’t. The best thing is that you get this book and decide for yourself 🙂
