#18: ‘Nosher’ by Nosher Powell (and I’m sure a ghost writer)

‘Nosher’ by Nosher Powell is the autobiography of boxer, and TV and film stunt man, Nosher Powell.

I normally avoid books about self-titled ‘hard men’, unless the lives of the men are particularly interesting outside of the violence. I got this book because Powell is from the same part of south London as a lot of my family and I always like to read anything connected with Walworth and Camberwell. What also appealed was learning more about Nosher’s transition from boxer / bouncer to Hollywood stunt man.

I’ll be honest, this book is ridiculous at times, though in a very enjoyable way. Nosher is a very likeable character, but one who you might be in the pub with, looking forward to hearing their latest stories and wondering whether they’re true or not. He definitely seems like the sort that wouldn’t let the truth get in the way of a good story, but in a fairly harmless sort of way.
